Klees takes over Ontario Transport Ministry

MPP Frank Klees, perhaps best know for his advocacy of new regulations for the collision repair industry, has been moved up to Minister of Transport in an Ontario Tory government cabinet shuffle.The move is being praised by the Collision Industry Action Group (CIAG), and the Collision Industry Standards Council of Ontario (CISCO) which had supported the private members bill creating the Collision Repair Standards Act of 2002. The act was considered somewhat controversial by insurers who feared it might interfere with direct repair (DRP) or preferred vendor programs. However, most were supportive of the concept of regulating bodyshops.”The collision repair industry in Ontario looks forward to working with Minister Klees on transportation issues, mandatory salvage branding and continued improvements for the customers of the collision repair industry” said Alex Szabo, president of CISCO.Former Transportation Minister Norm Sterling has become Attorney General and Minister Responsible for Native Affairs.
