Drivers will be able to repay the loan over a one, two or three-year period, with interest. The program resulted from a provincial Auto Theft Task Force study showing cost was a barrier to drivers using the devices. “An electronic immobilizer is the most effective way to stop auto theft,” says John Douglas, vice president of corporate public affairs for MPI.Drivers who purchase an immobilizer are already eligible for a rate discount of $40 on basic auto coverage in Manitoba.
