AIG donates millions to South Asian earthquake relief

American International Group, Inc. (AIG) recently donated $1 million to support the relief efforts in the areas affected by the earthquake in South Asia and says it will match, by 100%, all donations its employees make to the AIG Disaster Relief Fund.The Company has a business force in South Asia through its joint venture in India with Tata AIG and in Pakistan through its AIG Companies located in Karachi. “The funds donated will be given to organizations throughout India and Pakistan that will be able to most efficiently and effectively provide much needed relief,” Martin J. Sullivan, AIG president and ceo, says. “AIG and its employees have a tradition of generosity, giving to those affected by tragedies including Hurricane Katrina, the South Asian tsunami and the September 11 terrorist attacks.”
