Q. Inc. is giving Canadian Motor Vehicle Departments (CMVD) and law enforcement professionals instant access to a comprehensive, integrated source of information about any vehicle through the use of handheld decoders. The decoders will enable CMVDs and law enforcement to rapidly implement many of the recommendations made in the Canadian Council of Motor Transport Administrators’ (CCMTA) Best Practice Models for Combating Auto Theft in 2007, a CGI release says. “The solution automatically uploads vehicle insurance data available from CGI’s AutoPlus system into VIN I. Q.’s vehicle identification database to form a comprehensive information source,” according to the release. “A quick scan with the handheld decoder gives transportation authorities, such as CMVDs and police, more accurate and faster access to information that could reveal that a vehicle is branded (heavily damaged or deemed unsalvageable), stolen or uninsured.” Using proprietary Gammamatrix Technology, VIN I. Q. decodes, validates and expands a vehicle’s unique VIN. The hybrid VIN expander also allows the capture of the vehicle’s odometer reading. Validation of the VIN at registration or renewal, in addition to the current odometer reading has been identified as a tool in the fight against auto theft and odometer fraud, Rob Orr, CEO, VIN I. Q. Inc., said in the release. • Save Stroke 1 Print Group 8 Share LI logo
