The four-day event was filled with entertainment, seafood, golfing, deep sea fishing, educational seminars, a trade show, and a trip into Charlottetown for the “Ballad of Stompin’ Tom.” There were day trips to the Dunes, Anne of Green Gables, shopping in Charlottetown and a Harbour Hippo Tour. To finish off a successful conference, attendees were shuttled to the historic Dalvay By the Sea for the President’s Reception and Dinner. Fred Plant, outgoing president, handed over the reins of office to incoming CIAA president, Reno Daigle. “It is with pleasure that I pass to you the gong of office,” Plant said handing over the presidential reins. “Wear it with pride — I did.” During his term as president, Daigle will work to bring continuing education to all provinces, in addition to working to address a shortage of adjusters within the industry. During the evening, Brian Harris, treasurer, was awarded the CIAA honourary lifetime member. “We should all aspire to be as good a person and as good a contributor to this industry as Brian has been,” Plant said. For the first time, insurers provided sponsorship for the conference. It meant a lot to the members that Wawanesa, ING Canada and Aviva Canada took the time and effort to participate this way, Plant said. ” We saw it as an acknowledgment of our profession and the positive impact we have on the p&c insurance industry in Canada,” he said. “This shows a change in attitude by insurers who are now looking to create deeper relationships with adjusters.” • Save Stroke 1 Print Group 8 Share LI logo
