Crawford & Company has mobilized its Canadian and U.S. staff to handle “any and all claims needs” following a sizable earthquake with a magnitude of 6.6 that sent more than 20 sharp aftershocks across the Hawaii islands on Oct. 15.”We have been in close contact with our head office in Atlanta, as well as with our branch offices in Hawaii, to develop a coordinated response,” Crawford Adjusters Canada CEO John Sharoun said in a press release. “We have already mobilized our catastrophe team under Bud Trice in Atlanta to handle all Canadian interests on the island.”Crawford has offices on the island and the necessary capabilities to respond.”A state of emergency was declared in Hawaii after the earthquake hit the island at 7:07 a.m. local time at about 16 kilometers northwest of Kailua Kona (a community on the west coast of Hawaii’s Big Island). The entire state of Hawaii was declared a disaster zone when the earthquake triggered a landslide that blocked a major highway on Hawaii Island and knocked out power across the state. “While there were some reports of injuries, so far, no fatalities have been reported,” Crawford announced in a press release.
