ISB president Michael Damm says, “the fact that the information required in handling of a claim is available through a single source brings efficiency and cost savings to the claims handling process.” Partner Re says its claims from the recent Windstorm Erwin in Europe could reach US$50-$60 million. The storm hit Northern Europe the weekend of January 7th, causing at least 17 deaths as it brought torrential rains and winds in excess of 85 mph. Partner Re notes that total industry losses from the storm are expected to reach US$1.3-$1.7 billion. Pet insurer Pethealth Inc. has launched a web-based claims software tool for veterinary clinics and hospitals. Pethealth says the first-of-its-kind program will allow vets to manage claims under its PetCare insurance programs in real-time. The program, known as “EVE” (electronic veterinary experience), has been piloted in several provinces and 13 clinics are already using the software.
