TIC Travel Insurance Coordinators Ltd. raised more than Cdn$20,000 for charity this past holiday season, the result of the company’s second annual “Have a Heart” campaign. TIC donated to three charities on behalf of its travel agents and insurance broker customers: OneChild, Canadian Association of Food Banks and Canadian Diabetes Association.Throughout December and early January, brokers and agents voted for the charity they preferred. TIC collected the votes and donated to the charities in proportion to the votes they received, a release says.TIC staff also organized a number of internal events and raised money and created awareness for the campaign, the company statement adds.

The Institute for Catastrophic Loss Reduction is presenting a free emergency-planning workshop for small-business owners in Guelph, Ontario on Monday, Feb. 4.The presentation is sponsored by The Co-Operators and hosted by the City of Guelph and the Downtown Guelph Business Association.ICLR managing director Glenn McGillivray and research co-ordinator Dan Sandink will speak to a variety of topics, including climate change and catastrophic loss reduction, business continuity and resiliency, and emergency planning for small businesses.The presentation takes place at the River Run Centre on Monday, Feb. 4, from 10 am to 12 pm.
