Ungaro, an accomplished member of the industry, had recently sold his business – Ungaro and Sons Insurance Services, which he owned since 1998 – to HUB International Barton Insurance Brokers. Prior to purchasing Ungaro and Sons, he spent 10 years, from 1985-95, as comptroller at Whillis Harding Insurance Agencies. In addition, he was at one point the owner of Hoover Insurance. “Don was never afraid of work, he fought vigorously for broker issues and always did so with a sense of openness and fairness,” IBABC president Kevin McIntyre said. “His term as president saw many challenges that were surmounted with his quiet diplomacy and strong will.” Away from work, McIntyre said Ungaro was a committed family man who was deeply in love and dedicated to his childhood sweetheart and wife, Alison, and to their three children, all of whom followed their fathers footsteps and now work in the industry. *** David Williams is the new vice president, manager of Chubb Specialty Insurance, Canadian Zone. Developed by Applied Systems, WARP Data Bridging automates much of the keying required to issue personal auto and property policies on WebBusiness ™, Royal & SunAlliance’s web-based policy transactional tool. The tool was named a finalist this year in both the Canadian Information Productivity Awards and A.M. Best’s E-Fusion awards. The addition of WARP Data Bridging is the latest in a series of initiatives known as the WebBusiness TM Simplicity Project, making it even easier for brokers to do business with Royal & SunAlliance. This investment in technology further demonstrates the insurer’s commitment to its broker partners. Brokers from all regions of the country who have been testing WARP Data Bridging during the pilot period confirmed it saves them a significant amount of time when issuing new policies. The new functionality is available to Royal & SunAlliance as well as Western Assurance brokers that are using the most recent version of The Agency Manager (TAM) broker management system.
