Nominations are now open for the CIP Society’s 2016 Leadership Awards, the only national program of its kind that celebrates leadership among property & casualty professionals in Canada.

The program recognizes two important leadership roles in the industry – Emerging Leader and Established Leader

The National Leadership Awards program honours CIP Society graduates, many of whom are influencing how the p&c insurance industry is responding to key challenges and emerging issues today, such as changes in demographics and the way data and technology is used. The program recognizes two important roles of leadership in the industry, including the Emerging Leader and Established Leader categories, the Insurance Institute of Canada (IIC) said in a press release on Thursday.

Bryan Bedford (pictured below) was named the CIP Society’s Emerging Leader for 2015. He is the manager of strategic projects and privacy officer at Peel Mutual Insurance Company in Brampton, Ont.

Peter Hohman, president and CEO of the IIC, said in the release that the National Leadership Awards program has honoured 32 leaders to date – 14 Established and 18 Emerging Leaders. “Certainly, the industry has many more talented people worthy of recognition,” Hohman said in the release.

The National Leadership Awards were launched in conjunction with the CIP Society’s 10th anniversary celebrations in 2008. The CIP Society is the graduate division of the IIC, representing more than 17,000 graduates of the IIC’s Fellow Chartered Insurance Professional and Chartered Insurance Professional programs.

The annual awards recognize industry professionals making “outstanding achievements” within their organizations, the industry at large and within their communities. “Award winners elevate the public profile of the entire p&c industry by exemplifying excellence in their roles,” the release said.

The nomination process is available online until June 1.
