H.L. (Skip) Sutherland is retiring as president of Crawford Adjusters Canada after almost 45 years in the insurance industry. He began his career with Zurich in 1957 and later helped form Adjusters Canada Inc., which was bought by Crawford in 1998. He will remain a director of the company and act as a consultant on various projects.

The Insurance Bureau of Canada has named Robert J. Cooke as chair of the board for the coming year. He is senior vice president at the Canadian operation of State Farm Insurance Co. where he began his career in 1978. He is also current chair of the Facility Association.

AXA Canada has appointed Jean-Francois Blais as president and COO. He will also continue his role as executive vice president, property/casualty operations for Axa in Quebec until a successor is named. Blais has been with AXA since 1988.

The Canadian branch of Transatlantic Reinsurance Co. has appointed Elizabeth McAlpine to the position of treaty manager. She brings over 20 years experience in the Canadian industry to her new role.

Paul Davis Systems of Edmonton welcomes a new addition in Curt Beyer of Sherwood Park, Alberta, joining other Alberta locations in Calgary and Red Deer. He was most recently owner of Great Canadian Roofing.
