Two well-known former P&C insurance industry execs, T. Neil Morrison and Carol Jardine, have joined Aviva Canada’s board as non-executive directors.

Morrison has also been appointed chairman designate. He will take over from current board chairwoman Anne Marie O’Donovan next year. Morrison was appointed to the Aviva plc Board on June 17.

Morrison has more than 38 years of experience in the Canadian insurance industry, most recently as managing partner and chair of the insurance brokerage Platform Insurance Management Inc.

Currently chair of BOXX Insurance Inc., Morrison formerly held executive roles with Hub International Limited (US, Canada, Brazil & Caribbean). He was the Insurance Institute of Canada’s chairman of the board of governors in 2014-15.

Jardine also has extensive Canadian insurance experience. Formerly president of Wawanesa’s Canadian P&C operations, and executive vice president of Wawanesa Mutual Insurance Company, she’s held numerous senior leadership roles across the insurance industry.

Among them, she was president of Carol Jardine Insurance Adjusting and Consulting Services from 2014 to 2016, vice president of claims services at TD Insurance, and held executive positions at CUMIS General Insurance Company, Canadian Northern Shield Insurance, and RSA Canada.

Jardine is currently a member of Tarion’s Board, a not-for-profit consumer protection organization established by the Ontario government to administer the province’s new home warranty program.

On Aviva Canada’s board, Jardine will be a member of the risk, audit and governance, and conduct and compliance committees. She succeeds Bill Bloom, who stepped down from the role Thursday.

“We are excited to have Neil and Carol join our board,” Aviva Canada CEO Tracy Garrad commented. “Their decision to take on the board appointment is a testament to their belief in Aviva’s purpose and commitment to build a better tomorrow for our customers and communities, working closely with brokers and partners.

“I look forward to Anne Marie’s continued leadership as she transitions the chair role over to Neil in 2025.”

In welcoming Morrison and Jardine to the board, O’Donovan voiced her “appreciation to Bill [Bloom] for his contributions to the board in the past year. Bill’s expertise and insights on delivering customer-focused solutions helped support our efficiency and growth goals.”
