Responding to the high overall score by the Ontario auto insurance industry on the recent “claims satisfaction survey”, the Insurance Bureau of Canada (IBC) says the results highlight the need the make the private insurance system work.”Despite a lot of negative attention given recently to the auto insurance industry, Ontario’s auto insurers have shown once again that their number one focus is customer service,” says Mark Yakabuski, vice president of Ontario region for the IBC. The survey, conducted by the Financial Services Commission of Ontario (FSCO), gave insurers an overal rating of 85% on claims satisfaction, and similarly strong marks in individual categories including timeliness and fairness.”Now we just need to sit down with the new [Ontario Liberal] government to control the escalating cost of health care and lawsuits in the auto insurance sector and ensure consumers are satisfied with the whole system,” he adds. “We want to discuss these issues with the government at the earliest opportunity.”
