The Insurance Institute of Canada (IIC) is working with LOMA, an international financial services education group, to offer a new designation. The program is a p&c concentration in LOMA’s “associate, customer service” (ACS), and integrates the IIC’s “chartered insurance professional” (CIP) curriculum with LOMA’s “foundations of customer service” course. The ACS program with a concentration in Canadian p&c consists of five courses, including three mandatory and two elective courses. IIC says the course is even more important with the onset of increased competition in the insurance industry, where customer service will become a differentiator. So far, there are 12,000 CIP graduates in Canada who can take advantage of the LOMA course, notes Ted Hellyer, director of curriculum and development for the IIC.
