Insurance Corporation of British Columbia president and CEO Thom Thompson is retiring after more than five years. Prior to joining ICBC, he worked for BC Hydro. No successor has been named yet.

ING Canada is changing its organization, including the promotion of Yves Brouilette (pictured) to general manager, ING Americas, responsible for Canada and Mexico. Replacing Brouillette as president and CEO of ING Canada is Claude Dussault. Don Lough, president and CEO of ING Halifax, takes responsibility for the new insurance manufacturing group, including underwriting and claims. Derek Iles, Roger Randall and Jacques Valotaire become presidents of the Central/Atlantic, Western and Quebec divisions respectively. BELAIRdirect president Henry Curtis becomes president of strategic initiatives, including marketing, e-business and wealth management.

Former Royal & SunAlliance COO Linda Matthews is now a director of the boards of Swiss Reinsurance Company of Canada and Swiss Re Life & Health Canada.

The Canadian Insurance Accountants Association has elected Louis Condinho its president for 2001-2002 at its recent convention in Montreal. Condinho, of Easter Marine Underwriters, succeeds Colleen Sexsmith of CAS Accounting for Insurance Inc.

AXA Canada has appointed Robert Landry as executive vice president of marketing. He comes to AXA from marketing roles with Quebec banks and will be responsible for growth of the p&c business as well as cross-marketing with life and financial services.

Charles Troiano joins Odyssey Re as its new chief financial officer and executive vice president. Troiano comes from Gerling Global Re of America where he was CEO, and replaces Roland W. Jackson, who moves on to fellow Fairfax subsidiary, Fairfax Inc.

The Toronto Insurance Conference has a new home at 157 Adelaide Street West, Suite 432, in Toronto.
