Lorie J. Guthrie Phair has been named president and CEO of brokerage Hargraft Schofield Inc. based in Toronto. Guthrie Phair operated her own family brokerage for 20 years, is a past president of RIBO and past president of the IBTR.

Kingsway Financial has named John McGlynn as a vice president working on financial control and reporting. He brings over 20 years industry experience to the role, and has held executive positions in Canada, the U.S. and Europe.

Willis Group Holdings is announcing the retirement of Brian Johnson, CEO of its North American Retail operations, after 36 years with the company. His successor will be in place by the end of the year, the company notes.

PPG Canada has appointed Jean-Guy Rosa to the new position of manager of insurance relations for the company, to promote its CertifiedFirst Network and MVP designations for collision centers. Rosa has been in the auto repair industry since 1973 in a variety of roles.

CGU Group Canada announces the appointment of Bob Fitzgerald as executive vice president and COO of CGU Insurance Company of Canada. He brings more than 15 years of industry experience to the role, most recently as COO of Axa Canada.

With the departure of Royal & SunAlliance CEO Bob Mendlesohn, former RSA Canada CEO Bob Gunn is stepping in to fill the role on an interim basis. The company says it will undergo a search of internal and external candidates, including Gunn, to fill the role permanently.

In the July 2002 CU article “Rates Keep On Trucking”, it stated that AXA Canada has withdrawn from trucking coverage. The company still writes for trucks of 9 power units or less.
