Robert Cooke named new IBC chair

At the recently held Insurance Bureau of Canada (IBC) annual general meeting, outgoing chair George Cooke commended the bureau for the gains made over the past year in securing government dialogue on auto product reform countrywide. The greatest success has been proposed auto reform legislation in Ontario, although a great deal of work lies ahead of the IBC in this arena, he adds.Robert Cooke, senior vice president at State Farm Insurance Cos., has been named the new chair of the IBC. IBC president Stan Griffin says that, among the bureau’s top priorities for 2003, is preparing for the “imminent debate” on federal financial services reform.
