Over 160 noses attended, including an esteemed panel of judges. Throughout the evening, guests sampled some of Scotland’s finest single malts and enjoyed the expertise and humorous delivery of Ed Patrick, one of Scotland’s finest international Scotch whiskey experts and the president of the Companions of the Quaich Whisky Appreciation Society. Proceeds of the event were donated to the Women in Insurance Cancer Crusade (WICC), with Todd Stewart, Ontario Pond Most Loyal Gander, on-hand to present Lyna Newman of WICC with a cheque for $9,000. The event was organized by Blakeney, Henneberry, Murphy (insurance lawyers) and co-sponsored by Giffin Koerth Forensic Engineering and Science, ServiceMaster of Canada Limited and Matrix Loss Adjusters. *** The CIP Society of the Insurance Institute of Ontario hosted its second annual Symposium, Industry Impact – Present and Future, Apil 4 at the Toronto Board of Trade. This sold-out, full day symposium featured dynamic keynote and seminar speakers, presenting on a full spectrum of industry topics and issues, including an industry leadership panel at the conclusion of the agenda. *** Members of the Travel Under- writers Group of Companies recently participated in a head-shaving event in support of the Canadian Cancer Society Tour de Coast. The event, which raises funds for children living with cancer, kicked off April for cancer awareness month. This year’s donation totaled CD$8,355. The senior management team, including Taka Katsube, Michael Starko, Patrick Robinson and Peter Smith, agreed to shave their heads if the staff could meet the fundraising target of CD$1,000. Staff surpassed that goal and TU Group matched the donation dollar for dollar. The Tour de Coast partners with law enforcement officers who ride over 700 km through the Greater Vancouver Region in September to raise funds to help children and families living with cancer.
