Canadian law association supports insurance and risk management industry

The firm of Hughes Amys LLP has joined seven law firms from coast to coast to form the ARC Group Canada Inc.The ARC Group is a network of independent law firms across Canada focusing on the areas of insurance law and risk management, according to the organization. Members of the ARC Group provide services to insurers, self-insured companies and other entities requiring assistance with insurance and risk-related legal matters involving coverage and defence issues. The ARC group is able to provide a wide range of expertise as the eclectic membership can utilize its experience in various areas of insurance such as directors’ and officers’ liability; professional lines; transportation, environmental and energy related risks; boiler and machinery exposures; accident, health, life and disability risks; and fire, property and casualty claims, among others. The eight member firms launched the ARC Group at an inaugural seminar event and reception at the Ontario Club in Toronto on October 26, 2006. Hughes Amys LLP, the Ontario affiliate in the ARC Group, is a litigation firm that has offices in Toronto and Hamilton.
