Canadians figure heavily on new RIMS board

Four Canadians are members of the newly-restructured board of the Risk & Insurance Management Society (RIMS). RIMS decided last year to merge its large former board and executive committee, with new president Ellen Vinck pointing to the much smaller board’s ability to act more efficiently and effectively. Along with Vinck’s election as president for the 2005-2006 term, Michael Liebowitz was named vice president.Canadians on the board include Joe Restoule, senior risk consultant for NOVA Chemicals Corp. who will serve as secretary and Kim Hunton, risk manager for the City of Ottawa, who will be a voting director. RIMS past president Nancy Chambers will serve as an ex-officio board member. Chambers is risk manager for the Waterloo Region Municipalities Insurance Pool. And Janice McGraw, manager of risk management and insurance for McGill University who will remain as a director through April 30, 2007.The board currently totals 18, but this number will be reduced to 10 through attrition over the next two years.
