Born in 1934, he was called to the Alberta Bar in 1962, and later served as Deputy Minister of Consumer & Corporate Affairs under Alberta Premier Peter Lougheed. In 1978 he became president & CEO of the Insurance Bureau of Canada (IBC). He is missed by hiw wife of 28 years, Jane, children Greg, Charlene, Bruce, Ian, Jaci, and Jane Ayn, and 10 grandchildren. The insurance and risk management communities mourn the loss of industry leader Donald Marlin Stuart. Stuart made his career at Canada Packers, where he retired in 1978. He was an active member of the Risk & Insurance Management Society (RIMS) and in 2001 won its highest award, The Harry & Dorothy Goodell Award. He was a founding member of the Ontario Chapter of RIMS, which has made a donation to the McGannon Foundation in his memory.
