Markel stated March 2 that its new cyber product includes cyber liability and first party coverages, for data protection, cyber risk and network interruption. “Markel also offers a Privacy, Data Breach and Electronic Risk (PDE) endorsement that can be sold in conjunction with most Markel policies,” the company stated in a release. “Policyholders will have access to NetDiligence’s eRiskHub, an online portal offering up to date information and templates.” NetDiligence, a cyber risk assessment provider owned by Network Standard Corporation, offers services to insurers including Arch, Aspen, Brit, Chubb and Zurich, among others. NetDiligence is scheduled to host the Forum on Cyber Risk and Privacy Liability in Canada in Toronto April 16. Markel said its cyber customers of its cyber customers “will have access to the cyber response team at Fasken Martineau, including lawyers in every major Canadian centre, to provide expert legal and technical IT security guidance on a range of issues arising from cyber and data protection risks.” In Canada, Markel provides commercial insurance from London-based Markel International Insurance Company Limited. In the Lloyd’s market, Markel provides primary and excess of loss property, casualty, excess liability, professional liability, equine, marine, energy and trade credit insurance. The firm is owned by Glen Allen, Va.-based Markel Corp., whose coverages include commercial property, professional liability, equine-related risks, workers’ compensation, classic cars and marine, energy and environmental-related activities. Markel’s Canadian operations include a managing general agent formerly known as Elliott Special Risks and Allsport Insurance Marketing Ltd., a managing general agent that provides liability coverage for sports organizations and participants.
