Assurex International has expanded its operations in Canada with the addition of Phoenix Group Corporation in Edmonton, Alberta, to its list of broker partners. Lipscomb & Pitts Insurance, LLC, of Nashville, Tennessee, also joins Assurex’s network of nearly 70 independent brokers in North America, as well as the Ohio-based company’s partners in more than 50 foreign companies. With a staff of more than 70, Phoenix Group provides insurance, surety and risk management services.

The Commercial Union Life Assurance Company’s travel insurance department was recently transferred to CGU Insurance Company of Canada, ending Commercial Union’s involvement with the program. Previously, the two companies had jointly underwritten the travel plans, with Commercial Union administering the program. Also, CGU is set to launch its all seasons travel insurance product, covering comprehensive single and multi-trip plans, discounted seniors’ plans and cancellation, to be sold through the company’s network of independent brokers.
