Simpson is former president of the Insurance Institute of Ontario and assistant division manager with State Farm. He succeeds Stan Griffin, who has become executive vice president of regional operations for the Insurance Bureau of Canada. William Fischer has joined the brokered group of American Re as a senior vice president responsible for all property business. He has been in the reinsurance business since 1987, and was previously with Skandia America Re, Transatlantic Re and Everest Re. Software vendor Correlation Technologies announces the appointment of Paul Dhaliwal as it new vice president of finance and CFO. He has 13 years experience in the technology industry, including senior positions with Telus. British Columbia’s Mutual Fire Insurance Company was recently on the move to its new headquarters in Langley. The mutual, which will celebrate its centennial next year, is now located in a new building on Walnut Grove. The Insurance Brokers Association of Canada will be taking up residence in its new office space effective the first of August. IBAC will now be located at 155 University Avenue, Suite 1920, Toronto, ON. All telephone and fax numbers will remain the same. Law firm Miller Thomson welcomes six new partners. Leigh Gower joins the firm from Whitehorse, while Gordon Plottel, Michael Percival, David Martin, Eve Munro and Martin Gifford will all join the firm’s Vancouver office. The Insurance Institute of Ontario names its 2001-2002 governing council, including new president Sharon Bridge of ING Halifax, deputy president Ross Totten, senior vp Patrick King, treasurer Paul Green, secretary George Klassen and vice presidents John Nolan, Carla Blackmore and Barry Kennedy. Past president is David Simpson. Allstate Canada announces the retirement of Gary Moroney and the appointment of John Greb as his successor as vice president claims. Greb began his career with Allstate in 1977 and most recently was vice president of insurance operations for its Pembridge and Pafco subsidiaries. The Ontario chapter of the Risk and Insurance Management Society (ORIMS) welcomes back Ed Martingano to a second term as president. At the chapter’s recent annual meeting, Martingano listed the chapter’s newsletter and new website among its achievements, and a continued push for educational offerings as the main goal for the coming year. The International Insurance Society Inc. has named Patrick W. Kenny president and CEO, replacing John P. Meyerholz. The society has also elected Douglas W.
