The Insurance Brokers Association of Canada has named Brendan Wycks as its new executive director, effective this month. Wycks has 17 years of management experience, including director of the executive office at the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario for the past eight years.

The CG&B Group has announced the purchase of brokers G.C. Carley and Company Ltd. and Carley Financial Service Ltd. of Toronto. Staff at the brokerage will continue to serve clients, and former owner and president Bob Harris will join the CG&B management team.

Richard Shallhorn, previously general manager of broker management systems and Internet solutions vendor for ebix.com Canada, recently launched Shallhorn Consulting. The firm will provide operational and strategic consulting services to brokers, companies, vendors and other insurance industry stakeholders.

Susan MacMillan has joined St. Paul Canada as a clinical risk management consultant – healthcare, a position that includes publishing the St. Paul Pro-Medica Pulse newsletter for risk managers and developing client seminars. MacMillan is a public speaker and author, and previously an infection control practitioner for St. Michael’s Hospital, Toronto.

Lloyd’s of London has appointed Andrew Moss as director, finance and operations, replacing Bob Hewes who leaves the company later this year. Moss is currently chief financial officer, investment banking and markets for HSBC.

The former p&c insurance department of Lafleur Brown (Toronto) has relocated as Blakeney Henneberry Baksh. The firm was not part of Lafleur Brown’s recent merger with Gowling, Strathy & Henderson, and will operate its corporate/commercial practice with a staff of ten lawyers.

Grant Robinson has been named president of Jones Brown & Associates Limited’s new aviation/aerospace division. As well as 21 years of aviation experience as a flight instructor and pilot, Robinson has been an underwriter since 1984. His last post was as senior vice president with Marsh.
