The filing is a means to stay proceedings in civil actions against the dioceses by 36 victims of sexual abuse. The diocese says it needs the time to complete assessments of the value of certain holdings, as well to meet with insurers to determine its liability coverage. The Council of Lloyd’s has named Celia Denton as its newest member. Denton recently retired from Deloitte & Touche where she was head of the internal risk management, assurance and advisory practice. She has more than 20 years experience specializing in insurance. The council oversees management and regulation of the market, with all appointments subject to approval by the U.K. Financial Services Authority. The Insurance Bureau of Canada (IBC) Annual Data Quality Forum is set for June 16 at the Ontario Bar Association in Toronto. Among the topics under discussion this year are: how data quality supports crime prevention and industry issues; “a day in the life of a statistical submission coordinator”; HCAI project overview; business and technology changes; and electronic availability of statistical plan and edit rules manuals.
