Insurance Technology Advisors Ltd. (ITA) has been retained by two Canadian technology firms to conduct market research on p&c insurers Companies participating in the research will also receive an executive report on overall IT trends for the industry. The study will address: IT deployment, vendor management issues, functional areas of interest and IT risk management profiles, says ITA principal David Plouffe.

Virgin Records CEO Richard Branson has launched a new direct insurer in the U.K. under the mantle of “Virgin Money”. Car, home, travel and pet insurance will be sold by telephone and online, with the company scrapping interest charges for monthly premium payments.

AXA Canada CEO Jean-Francois Blais has won the “Young Executive in Quebec” in the provincial ARISTA competition. Blais, 37, took over the CEO’s role earlier this year following the retirement of Jean-Denis Talon.
