SGI Canada kicked off its last “Charity Curling Classic” Thursday, wrapping up a 12-year tradition which has raised more than $250,000 for local charities. The five-day event features some of the biggest names in international curing Canada’s Guy Hemmings, Jan Betker and Randy Ferbey, Sweden’s James Dryburgh and Americans Pete Fenson and Cassie Johnson. The 32 men’s teams will compete for $60,000 in prizes, while women’s teams compete for $15,000 in prizes.

The 2004 recipient of the “Fred Bosson Award” for highest standing by a graduate of the Canadian Risk Management (CRM) program provided by RIMS Canada, is Samuel Isaacs, review officer for the Workers’ Compensation Board of B.C. Isaacs was presented with the honor by RIMS Canada’s National Education Committee chair Craig Rowe, at the 29th annual RIMS Canada Conference in Winnipeg this week.

The CEO panel at this year’s Insurance Brokers Association of Ontario (IBAO) Conference in Toronto will include: George Cooke (Dominion of Canada), Derek Iles (ING Insurance), Igal Mayer (Aviva Canada), Rowan Saunders (Royal & SunAlliance) and Roger Randall (Allianz Canada).
