TORONTO, ON, MARCH 8, 2022 /insPRESS/ –  International Women’s Day (March 8) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. As stated by the IWD, “Collective action and shared ownership for driving gender parity is what makes International Women’s Day impactful. International Women’s Day has occurred for well over a century, with the first gathering in 1911 and today IWD belongs to all groups collectively everywhere.” #BreakTheBias

Jamie Catania B.E.Sc., M.Eng., P.Eng. CEO & Practice Lead, Collision Reconstruction states: “For the last several years, through the efforts of our Diversity and Inclusion team and our involvement in hosting an industry-wide unconscious bias seminar, we have come to recognize there is a need to get further involved in our community and help young women discover opportunities in STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Math). As such, 30 Forensic Engineering is proud to partner with hEr VOLUTION.”

Based in Toronto, hEr VOLUTION exists to inspire and revolutionize the STEM industry and change the world, by encouraging girls and young women to pursue STEM-based careers and promoting stakeholder’s involvement in the support of STEM education in Canada. Founded by Doina Oncel, hEr VOLUTION is a ‘go to place’ for youth, particularly young women from underserved communities.

“Not only do we feel hEr VOLUTION is aligned with our values, but we believe our own 30 Forensic Engineering community has a desire to get involved. Please stay tuned for further information on mentorship prospects, presentation opportunities, and future fundraising events we plan to support. Finally, and as importantly—I want to take a moment to highlight and recognize the amazing women of 30FE. We are grateful to have such incredible women driving the progress of our firm” says Jamie Catania.

30 Forensic Engineering would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge our team and thank our talented women for their incredible dedication and for making 30 FE the firm it is today!

IWD provides an important moment to showcase commitment to women’s equality, launch new initiatives and action, celebrate women’s achievements, raise awareness, highlight gender parity gains and more. The day is celebrated and supported globally by industry, governments, educational institutions, community groups, professional associations, women’s networks, charities and non-profit bodies, the media and more. Collectively every person and all groups can make a difference within their sphere of influence by taking concrete action to help build a more gender-balanced world. From small powerful grassroots gatherings to large-scale conference and events – International Women’s Day is celebrated everywhere. It’s a big day for inspiration and change.

About hEr VOLUTION

Based in Toronto, Canada, hEr VOLUTION is the go-to place for youth, particularly young women from underserved communities to come to in order to advance in 21st Century Skills. We exist to create opportunities for the next generation of women in STEM connecting them with leaders in the industry for career support. We listen to the needs of the community and that of the STEM industry to better help the next generation of underserved youth, with a focus on young women to enter STEM. hEr VOLUTION was founded by Doina Oncel based on personal experience as well as research with the belief that once we accept diversity, opportunities for women in STEM fields will rise. Doina Oncel knows firsthand what it is like to be an immigrant woman, living in a low-income household, youth at risk, having to overcome domestic violence, homelessness, and now a single mother of two daughters. While surrounding herself with people who encouraged her to become a better self, she learned that she must be the change she wants to see in the world and while she creates opportunities for her daughters she wants to make the world a better place by encouraging parents to do the same for their daughters. Someone has believed in her to give her the opportunities she has today and now she wants to do the same for the next generation to follow.
