Effective November 25’ 2012 – AVA Marine is now able to provide marine surveying services such as vessel condition surveys, accident investigation, cargo claims  to member vessels of P&I clubs / H &M Insurers.

AVA Marine is now approved by the TSA (Transportation Security Administration) and issued with TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential).

A condition survey is carried out to protect the members’ interests as regards to the quality of the vessels which are entered in a mutual association and therefore the Managers of the Club should be satisfy that the vessel is in a fit condition for entry, and/or identify defects that are likely to expose the Owner and the Club to P&I claims. “Earlier we found it increasingly difficult to access vessels in US ports in order to conduct Condition Surveys and other marine surveying activities as the TSA required 24×7 escorts for surveyors requiring access to secure areas of a Maritime Transportation Security Act (MTSA) regulated vessel, facility, or outer continental shelf facility and owners / cargo interests being reluctant to pay these extra costs the surveys were turned down” – said the founder and principal marine surveyor & consultant of AVA Marine.

Having a TWIC removes these restrictions and we do not charge extra for traveling to the US as it is included in our globally accepted Condition Survey fee” – said Kaivan

As highlighted in our previous announcement – that at the current market rate, bunker cost are one of the largest operating expenses incurred in a TC voyage. With such high costs involved, it becomes imperative for the charterers to know the exact bunker quantity onboard at the time of redelivery. Thus to prevent any bunker misappropriation AVA Marine is now able to offer 221B Surveys (commonly known as Bunker Detective Surveys) and On Hire / Off Hire Surveys to Charterers in the United States also.
