Montreal, November 18, 2014 – The 41st annual convention of the Regroupement des cabinets de courtage d’assurance du Québec (RCCAQ) [Quebec Insurance Brokers Association] will be held from November 18-20, 2014 at the Hilton Bonaventure Hotel in Montreal. More then 1,000 convention goers from the insurance brokerage sector are expected to attend this event, which is dedicated to the theme of reinvention.

Reinvention: ensuring the brokerage sector’s viability

At a time when all brokers are grappling with a number of major insurance industry issues, the RCCAQ is calling on its members to begin a process of reflection. “Brokers are facing challenges that require rapid mobilization. In light of the impact of the sector’s decline in relation to the direct insurers, new consumer trends and a constantly changing market, we must rethink our approach. Our viability and our survival are at stake,” said RCCAQ chair Jean Bilodeau.

Activities for renewal

To address the theme of “Brokers: let’s reinvent ourselves”, the RCCAQ will offer its members a wide array of training activities, seminars and forums designed to generate potential solutions and promising prospects for the future. “We are very proud to offer a wide-ranging program of workshops, training sessions, one-of-a-kind seminars and other activities geared specifically towards convention goers and their needs. The emphasis will be placed squarely on renewal,” added Mr. Bilodeau.

Guest speaker: Jean-Luc Mongrain

Journalist and famous TV host Jean-Luc Mongrain is slated to give an exclusive talk entitled “Reinventing our profession” for the RCCAQ’s broker members. He will also moderate the “Insurers Panel”, a round table forum touching on industry challenges from the perspective of senior insurance executives from across Quebec. During the “Pioneers of our Reinvention” event, Mr. Mongrain will turn the floor over to a group of brokers who have successfully reinvented their professional careers.

Industry trade fair

Some 100 companies with ties to the insurance industry will be showcasing their services. Convention goers will also have access to a range of customized products designed to meet their needs.
