The product, offered through Lloyd’s, is available for contractors and site specific risks with an existing primary environmental liability policy. “Our new excess environmental liability policy provides specialized coverage that goes above and beyond primary environmental liability policies,” said Gary Hirst, National Director, Burns & Wilcox Canada. “Burns & Wilcox Canada’s Environmental Centre of Excellence provides brokers with direct access to environmental specialists who can help identify and assess exceptional situations of environmental risk and deliver a solution that fully protects clients’ operations.” Contractors eligible for coverage with this new product include but are not limited to those involved in excavation, sewer and water pipelines, blasting, drilling, general construction, remediation, as well as tank installation and maintenance. A broad range of site specific risks are also eligible, including high hazard risks like landfills, waste disposal wells and municipalities. Excess Environmental Liability can be written over any standalone environmental insurance policy with primary limits between $1M and $50M. The Excess Environmental Liability limits that will be provided through Burns & Wilcox Canada will be up to $25M above the primary policy limits.
