Wilfrid Laurier University graduates Krishna Patel, Tommy Ngo and Eric Tu selected for Kaufman Emerging Leaders Program (KELP) in Toronto

Toronto, ON [September 18, 2013] – Burns & Wilcox Canada today announced that it has selected three candidates for the Kaufman Emerging Leaders Program (KELP). The program, administered by Burns & Wilcox Canada’s parent company, Kaufman Financial, identifies high potential candidates for an accelerated training program designed to develop the next generation of the company’s leadership.

This year’s recruits, Krishna Patel, Tommy Ngo and Eric Tu, were selected for the unique program through campus recruiting at Wilfrid Laurier University, where they recently graduated.  Ms. Patel graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration (Hons.) with a co-op option. Mr. Ngo holds a Bachelor of Business Administration (Hons.) with a concentration in Marketing and Brand Communications and a minor in Economics. Mr. Tu obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration (Hons.) with a co-op option and a major in Finance.

“Attracting and retaining top talent is critical to our ongoing success and is an essential part of developing future leadership,” said Gary Hirst, National Director, Burns & Wilcox Canada. “The KELP program provides a competitive advantage to Burns & Wilcox Canada by offering high-potential university graduates an accelerated career-oriented training program focused on the Canadian insurance industry. Burns & Wilcox Canada is proud to make continuing education, career development and training a top priority and we are excited to welcome Krishna, Tommy and Eric to the firm and look forward to their success.”

KELP provides recruits with hands-on experience and comprehensive training to develop their knowledge of the insurance industry and cultivate leadership qualities. The program runs annually throughout the seven provinces in which Burns & Wilcox Canada operates. Internal candidates are current employees selected based on their demonstrated drive and ability, while external candidates are selected by referral and by college campus recruiting.

The formalized program is only a small part of Kaufman Financial’s recruitment and training platform, which was developed in part by observing the competition and analyzing the gaps in others companies’ recruitment activities. Its competitive platform is designed to attract top talent within the insurance industry and also encourage high-potential graduates to consider working in the insurance industry at Burns & Wilcox Canada.
