Canada’s leading provider of medical assessments and health services is recognized on international stage, receives CARF’s highest level of accreditation

TORONTO, February 24, 2014—Cira Medical Services (Cira) is pleased to announce that it has received a Three-Year Accreditation for its Independent Evaluation Services (IES) program from the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) International, a globally-respected, independent, non-profit accreditor of health and human services organizations.

CARF awarded Cira its highest level of international accreditation, confirming Cira’s leadership position as a provider of medical assessments and health services in Canada. Cira’s CARF accreditation establishes an industry benchmark and signals Cira’s commitment to excellence for their clients and persons served. Extremely rare for a first-time applicant, Cira achieved near perfect results in the CARF surveying process, which validated the quality and integrity of all aspects of Cira’s policies and procedures. The awarding of such a worldwide quality-centred accreditation is confirmation to Cira’s stakeholders that its medical assessments and health services are of the highest caliber as compared to international best practices and standards.

“Cira is honoured to be recognized as a leader in the industry for its national operations, and is proud to have achieved the highest-level of quality for its medical assessments and health services based on CARF’s international standards,” said Karen Seward, President, Cira Medical Services. “As an organization that is committed to helping Canadians live healthier lives, Cira’s receipt of the CARF accreditation confirms that we are committed to a culture of excellence in everything we do. I’m grateful that international accreditors had the opportunity to witness first-hand the hard work, dedication, and professionalism of our team. Receiving international accreditation for three years validates our ongoing effort to be an industry-leading organization that provides valued services to both our clients and the individuals they refer to us.”

CARF’s surveyors commended Cira’s performance measurement and management systems, health and safety policies and procedures, analysis and trending process reporting systems and extensive IT resources. Cira personnel were praised for being knowledgeable and passionate about meeting the needs of those being served and for taking a leading role in establishing best practices and promoting industry education.

“The CARF surveyors commended our commitment to transparency in policies and procedures, and for the quality of our assessment services and clinical consultation processes,” said Dr. Avi Orner. “I’m pleased that CARF also noted that our clients, whether insurers, employers, or members of the medico-legal community, were united in describing Cira as an organization committed to excellence and capable of managing cases across the full spectrum of clinical complexities with precision and expertise.”
