Crawford & Company (Canada) Inc. has mobilized members of its catastrophe team to handle the losses resulting from the flooding in Manitoba over the weekend. The rest of the companys CAT team is on standby, prepared for whatever situation may develop as a result of the flooding in the Prairies.

We are monitoring the situation closely,” said John Sharoun, chief executive officer. “Our offices in Winnipeg and Brandon are being supported by a number of CAT professionals to ensure that we deliver superior service to the areas residents and businesses during this difficult time. Our team of highly-skilled adjusters and administrative and support staff are well prepared to mobilize if need be.

Rain, and in some cases wet snow, drenched parts of the Prairies over the weekend, leaving many communities to declare a state of emergency as water flooded basements and roads. High winds downed trees and left many without power. The downpour prompted provincial government officials to issue a serious overland flooding advisory for parts of southern Manitoba. Flood forecasters said streams and rivers were rising rapidly and some were overflowing their banks, closing roads. They also predicted that water levels in streams and rivers would crest in the next few days.
