Calgary—In the wake of last week’s devastating flooding throughout Southern Alberta, Forensic Investigations Canada (FIC) has mobilized its Emergency Site Security teams to help insurers, carriers, citizens, companies, and government organizations protect their properties from further loss.

A property remains vulnerable to further loss after a serious flood: power outages, unlocked doors, and unsafe premises create the potential for further damage, theft, or personal injury. An unprotected site is vulnerable to theft and asset removal, especially when an area has been evacuated. Damaged sites also present multiple physical hazards, increasing the chance that those working on or returning to the premises to collect items could suffer personal injury.

FIC’s Emergency Site Security teams are ready and poised to help. As experienced security guards, the uniformed teams act quickly to secure the site, control access, protect content and belongings, and preserve the scene. Trained in communications, they generate logs, photos, and detailed reporting so that stakeholders can have peace of mind during the recovery process.

“Our guards are experienced and know how to control a site to protect it against further damage” explains FIC’s President, Len Copp. “Our goal is to maintain control of the scene diplomatically and efficiently to protect and support all stakeholders during the recovery and rebuild activities.”
