This team, comprised of adjusters from British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, and Quebec, is currently en route to the region. Additionally, Granite Claims’ Kelowna Branch Manager, Trent Buchanan, is preparing the Calgary Command Centre and making all necessary arrangements for the adjusters. In addition to several skilled property adjusters with significant catastrophe experience, Granite’s CAT Team includes additional resources in a CAT Coordination Team, a 24/7 Contact Centre, and estimating services from our Property Services Division, Evaluate Canada. “Several of our clients have already made contact with our local adjusters and national Account Managers. We have informed them that our team is en route and we have ample capacity to assist them. As well, Ivan Brosbell, our National CAT Leader, has been in constant contact with insurers as he is preparing his team,” says Paul Tiller, Director of Technical Services. “Our CAT Team Leaders have decades of experience managing catastrophe response. This, coupled with their local knowledge, is proving invaluable right now.” Early observations and news reports have shown this to be a considerably severe event, with the evacuation of over 75,000 Calgary residents alone. In addition to private residences, damage to roads and other infrastructure will also constitute a considerable part of the damages from this event. As the flood waters subside and homeowners and insurers get the chance to attend and inspect these locations, there is no doubt there will be widespread property losses. Events like this can have a significant impact on property owners. In partnership with our clients and their policy holders, Granite’s CAT Team will work tirelessly to ensure a swift, effective, and professional response.
