Halifax Collision Reporting Centre to open on September 10th

Accident Support Services International Ltd. (ASSI) facilitators of Collision Reporting to the Insurance Industry is pleased to announce the opening of the Halifax Collision Reporting Centre in service to Halifax Regional Police on September 10, 2014 at 8:00 a.m.  The Grand Opening Ribbon-cutting Ceremony will take place at 1:30 p.m. at 1975 Gottingen Street, Halifax.

The Halifax Collision Reporting Centre will provide enhanced value to the public in the reporting of vehicle collisions.  The “one-on-one” interview process simplifies reporting, and adds value to the customer service aspect. Citizens will have the convenience of a safe, comfortable location where they can attend to complete their report. In addition, Accident Support Services’ staff completes the data entry for all official reports, capturing the information for analysis and targeted enforcement initiatives.  Police and Insurers will now have real-time access to collision data, reports, photographs and documents through ASSI’s Microsoft award winning ‘Collision Reporting & Occurrence Management System’ (CROMS).  Police will continue to investigate collisions at the scene that involve injuries, suspected criminal activity, or damage to private property.

The Halifax Collision Reporting Centre is located at 1975 Gottingen Street, Halifax, Nova Scotia.  This location will be operational from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday to Friday and from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.  Upon arrival at the Centre, citizens are greeted by a staff member who provides help to complete the police report, applies the ‘Damage Reported to Police’ sticker, photographs the damage to the vehicle, and offers the customer the opportunity to contact family, broker or insurance company directly from the Centre.  The citizen is provided with a one-stop service opportunity for all of their reporting needs.  Police personnel are also available as needed to assist with the accident report.

The goal of ASSI is to facilitate an active partnership between police and insurers in post-accident care by providing knowledgeable advice and assistance to accident victims with empathy, integrity and availability.  This results in increased convenience for the public as well as greater road safety.  Supporting insurers fund the program, and there is no cost to the police or public for these additional services. 

The Halifax Collision Reporting Centre will be the first operated by Accident Support Services in partnership with Police Services in Nova Scotia.  ASSI currently operates 29 Collision Reporting Centres in Ontario, and 2 in the Province of Alberta.  Furthermore, 28 additional jurisdictions utilize ASSI’s CROMS program as their electronic collision and records management database.
