(“NBS”), a cross-Canada wholesale insurer, is relocating from Amos (Quebec) to Montreal. The company began moving into its new headquarters in downtown Montreal (1100 Avenue des Canadiens-de-Montréal) in early January; the move is scheduled to be completed in June. Well known as a provider of specialty products to the national brokerage network, the company also has operations in Winnipeg, Thunder Bay and Calgary. “The insurance market is changing rapidly,” said Guy Boissé, president of NBS, which was founded in 1997. “An initial wave of insurer consolidation created a favourable market for intermediaries like us. By expanding our team of experienced and bilingual underwriters, we are seeking to build on our existing strengths and to increase our range of products and services. Relocating our headquarters to Montreal is a logical extension of that decision as it facilitates our access to highly qualified staff.” Two new specialists, along with technical support staff, will be joining NBS’s existing team of underwriters in Montreal. The hiring of specialized underwriters in the near future will also boost the head office staff. “Our broker clients will soon have access to innovative products and additional experienced specialists. We also plan to keep on adding products designed to meet new market demand,” said Mr. Boissé. He added: “This move is primarily aimed at gaining access to a more diverse pool of high-level human resources. Being headquartered in Montreal will enable us to enhance the services we provide as we will be perfectly positioned to monitor market trends more closely.” The Amos regional office will continue to be staffed by the existing team of professionals.
