October 7 – 13,  2012 – Windsor & Essex County: It was National Fire Safety week and many events across Canada took place to educate the public about fire safety. PAUL DAVIS SYSTEMS (PDS) of Windsor & Essex County, as in years past, participated in the events taking place at 4 of their local Fire Halls. There they promoted fire safety by distributing colouring books, holding contests and via the use of their PDS trailer.

The PDS trailer, located inside the Essex Fire Station, was transformed into a room complete with a fake wall, door, and window. The window and door acted as 2 exits, embracing the “Rabbit Ready for Fire” initiative, where children are encouraged to have two ways out such as the rabbit’s do when creating an underground home. The trailer was then filled with fog, mimicking smoke. As children passed through they were able to learn the value of fire safety through experience. Additionally, each child had the opportunity to win a bike!

“Our relationship with the community fire departments continues to grow.” stated Mike Quinlan. “Fire safety events are essential and it is our privilege to have a small part in providing this learning experience for both children and parents.”
