Toronto: July 14, 2014.  As part of its expansion plans, Rochon Environmental has appointed two senior professionals to the firm.  Doug Tremblay, Managing Partner today announced that Alain Garand has joined the firm to open Rochon operations in Montreal and Neil Wilcox has joined the Greater Toronto Area operations.

Both Alain and Neil are extremely experienced in managing spills and remediation projects of varying sizes as well as providing peer review and litigation support.  “These highly experienced and respected professionals will further strengthen and support our recent additions and expansion and increase our geographic reach.  We are very pleased to have Alain and Neil join our team” said Mr. Tremblay.

Alain Garand, Senior Project Manager and Geoscientist

Alain is a senior geoscientist and emergency response specialist with over 12 years of experience conducting and managing a wide variety of spills and contaminated sites.  He is an expert in emergency situations, at managing very large catastrophic spills, including tanker rollovers, petroleum pipeline releases and derailments with exposures of several million dollars. However, he also provides service to clients on more routine projects.  Through his experience, Alain has an intimate understanding of required levels of effort and costs, which has also allowed him to successfully conduct many peer reviews.  Alain had experience as an independent loss adjuster in the ice storm of 1998, so he has a unique understanding of the challenges of loss adjusting.  He was on the ground in Lac-Mégantic immediately after the derailment and for several weeks immediately thereafter.  Alain is located in the Rochon Montreal office.

Neil Wilcox, Senior Project Manager

Neil joins Rochon Environmental as a senior project manager and senior emergency response specialist with extensive experience conducting and managing a variety of spill remediation projects in Canada and the United States.  Neil has managed or provided senior technical support on various multi-million dollar rail, pipeline, and tanker spills in Ontario and Quebec.  He has also worked on smaller service station, domestic home heating oil, and transportation losses.  Since joining the spill remediation field in 2003, Neil has managed and completed over 250 spill remediation projects ranging from $1,000 to over $10 million.  He has experience and knowledge in forensic investigations in source identification, and age dating of petroleum hydrocarbons.  Neil has conducted onsite shadowing, peer reviews and provided expert opinion for litigation claims.  He was also on the ground in Lac-Mégantic immediately after the derailment and for several weeks immediately thereafter.  Neil works out of Rochon’s Greater Toronto Area office.
