STRONE-Itech Ride for Heart

The STRONE-Itech team is returning to the streets of Toronto for the Becel Ride for Heart on June 1st. It’s been a tough spring for training, but dedicated riders are getting active and preparing for their respective distance of 25, 50, or 75 km. Enthusiasm for the event has grown amongst the team, now in its second year of involvement with the ride.

“I’m happy to report that our team has doubled in size this year,” comments Team STRONE-Itech Co-Captain Adriana Kop.  “We are expecting 20 riders on 19 bikes,” chuckles Kop. “We have a pair who will be riding a tandem bike, bringing even more awareness to the cause I’m sure. Their quest should be interesting to say the least.”

The ride is an annual fundraiser for the Heart and Stroke Foundation, welcoming over 14,000 cyclists in  Canada’s largest charity cycling event.  Riders take advantage of the opportunity to ride vehicle-free along the Gardiner Expressway and Don Valley Parkway.

“I tip my helmet to all of my teammates who don’t ride at all, but are challenging themselves for this amazing cause,” states Kop. “Last year, some of our riders got hooked on cycling. Who knows, we might get more avid cyclists coming out of this year’s ride too!”

Team members will be coming from areas including Kitchener-Waterloo, Brantford, GTA, Oakville, and Ottawa.  Fundraising efforts are in full force and the team can use your help.  Check out the STRONE-Itech Team Page for Ride for Heart 2014 and help make a difference – http://www.bit.ly/team-strone-itech-ride.
