The Canadian Independent Adjusters Association is Pleased to Announce Mary Charman as their 27th National President

Charman assumed the role from outgoing president Patti Kernaghan during the CIAA Annual General Meeting and Conference held August 26 – 29, 2010 in Victoria, BC.   “I worked with a terrific executive that made my job easy,” Kernaghan said during the President’s Banquet on August 28, 2010.  Mary is enthusiastic to continue the work started by her predecessors and in the coming year, CIAA’s focus will be the key strategic priorities identified as a result of last year’s strategic planning exercise: Professional Status/Differentiation; Industry Recognition/Branding and Communications; Licensing Harmonization; Education; and Career recruitment.  “CIAA is extremely fortunate to have many dedicated volunteers working unconditionally ensuring the profile of CIAA and its members is in the forefront,” President Charman added. 

A manager with Crawford & Company (Canada) Inc., Mary brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to her new role as President having spent the last half of her 31-year career as an Independent Adjuster.  She is passionate about the Canadian Independent Adjusters’ Association and taking on the “top job” after 15 years of service to the association is simply the next step in a lifetime commitment to her profession and the industry.

There are numerous benefits of CIAA membership but “one of the things I enjoy most is the interaction with my peers, coming together to promote and represent the common business interests of Independent Insurance Adjusters within the Insurance Industry.  We are all here for the same reason – to develop, maintain and promote the highest standards of professionalism, ensuring the independent loss adjusting profession is of the highest quality.  I look forward to an exciting year ahead.  CIAA’s presence and visibility will be elevated on many levels!”  Charman noted
