The device, distributed by Calgary-based Magtec Products Inc. meets VICC’s standard for car and light truck security. VICC has been promoting the use of immobilizers as the best available means of theft deterrence, noting that they “cut three vital circuits: the starter, engine and fuel supply”, making it impossible for potential thieves to start the vehicle. Car alarms, clubs and other devices do not offer this protection. Magtec 6000 joins PFK Autowatch model 329 Ti as the only aftermarket devices approved so far, although VICC president and COO Henning Norup says the plan is to increase this number in the future. “Our goal is to expand the number of installation facilities and auto theft deterrent systems that meet the requirements of the standards.” Save Stroke 1 Print Group 8 Share LI logo
