Editor’s Note:  This article has been corrected. MBC Group was the original incubator for the EcoClaim Certificate Program. However, EcoClaim became its own entity in 2023 and is now the administrator of the EcoClaim Certification Program. CU apologizes for the error and any confusion it may have caused.

SCM Insurance Services has acquired MBC Group, a specialty engineering firm.

SCM is a provider of claims management, risk mitigation and related services, and is known for its subsidiaries ClaimsPro, ParioQuantify (a third-party provider of property loss appraisals), and Pario Engineering and Environmental Sciences.

SCM said its acquisition of MBC Group will strengthen the capabilities of the latter subsidary, Pario.

MBC offers environmental consulting, laboratory services, and building consulting and project advisory services to numerous markets, including insurance and financial institutions. The engineering firm has seven locations across Canada and 10 satellite offices.

“With the integration of MBC Group and Pario and ParioQuantify, a division of SCM, we will create the largest provider of post-loss services across Canada. This combination will enable us to offer an even broader range of solutions, greater efficiency and access to a wealth of industry expertise,” MBC said in a statement.

“This acquisition marks a pivotal moment in our journey, as it brings together the strengths and expertise of both companies to better serve our valued clients.”

Through the acquisition, SCM will create a national post-loss appraising platform for both new and existing clients.
