At thae recent Insurance Marketing Communications Association summer meeting in Hilton Head, S.C., Ted Belton (pictured) was honored with the prestigious Golden Torch Award for his 51 years of research and communication on a wide variety of insurance topics. Most famous for The Belton Report, he has also authored many articles, spoken at numerous industry conferences and also co-authored the Insurance Institute of Canada’s The Business of Insurance course. In nominating him for the award, the Institute’s Les Dandridge called Belton, “a masterful, sought-after communicator”, citing his ability to interpret statistics and “explain their relevance and relationships in an understandable, eloquent and convincing fashion”. Although recently retired as director of research for RBC Underwriting Management Service Inc., Belton will continue his commitment to the insurance industry, publishing The Belton Report and serving on a least two boards of directors.
