Quebec broker regulator gets new CEO

The regulator of Quebec’s property and casualty insurance brokers will have a new chief executive officer next week.

Anne-Marie Poitras is CEO of Chambre de l’assurance de dommages (ChAD) effective Nov. 29, ChAD announced Wednesday.

A former broker and claims adjuster, Poitras was vice president of governance and compliance at Desjardins Capital until recently.

Her family ran brokerage firm Poitras, Larue, Rondeau, which became Univesta Assurance et Services financiers in 2001. At that time Poitras was vice president of operations and business development.

Poitras is also a former superintendent of customer care and compensation at Quebec’s Autorité des marchés financiers (AFM), which regulates financial markets in Quebec.

Poitras “will be able to build on our mission of protecting the public by continuing to enhance the professionalism of more than 15,000 agents, brokers and claims adjusters in the damage insurance industry,” stated Diane Beaudry, chair of the board of directors of the ChAD, in a press release Wednesday.
