Westland Insurance has acquired Alberta-based F.A. Smith Insurance Service Ltd. effective Aug. 1.

This latest acquisition will take Westland into “three new communities,” the brokerage consolidator said in a release.

“[F.A. Smith’s] community focus, along with their commitment to providing exceptional client experiences, with tailored risk management solutions, made a partnership with Westland a natural fit,” Westland wrote in a press release. “Both organizations share a strong dedication to giving back and supporting the communities they operate in.”

Smith Insurance Service is a full-service P&C brokerage with locations in Fort Saskatchewan, Lamont, and Smoky Lake, Alta. They have offered coverage for home, auto, farm and business insurance for seven markets in their communities for over 50 years, according to the brokerage’s website.

This is Westland’s eighth acquisition of the year.

The deal follows the brokerage’s July acquisition of Alberta Best Insurance Ltd. At the time, Westland said that deal, “marks Westland’s continued expansion across Canada and strengthens its position in Alberta.”
