Guy Carpenter is hosting the first annual (Re)Insurance Industry Charity Poker and Casino Event for WICC (Women in Insurance Cancer Crusade). The event will be held at 6 p.m. on May 30, 2007 at the Four Seasons Hotel Toronto. Although there will not be any real money on the table, a number of prizes will be up for grabs, including accommodations for two at the Peregrine Lodge in the Queen Charlotte Islands, valued at $10,000. For those who are not poker players, slot machines are an option. Prizes will be awarded to people who win the highest amount of money in the casino. The entry fee is $500 for poker players and $400 for those who prefer the casino. While no dinner is being served, there will be hors doeuvres and food stations, so nobody will go home hungry. All proceeds will be donated to WICC, which was formed more than 10 years ago by women and men in the insurance field to raise funds for cancer research as well as provide educational forums for the industry on how to support colleagues and family affected by the disease. To confirm your attendance, please contact Daniela Toneguzzo at Daniela.Toneguzzo@guycarp.com by May 11, 2007.

Richard Scott, a Kingsville, Ontario professional golfer, and the Insurance Brokers Association of Ontario (IBAO) have signed a sponsorship agreement for 2007. As insurance brokers, we are close to our communities, and supporting Richard is simply an extension of our support to a promising Ontario athlete, Randy Carroll, IBAO CEO, said in a press release. We are very excited about this partnership. Scott said his decision to accept the partnership with the IBAO was easy, since his father has been an insurance broker for 27 years. From watching my dad, I knew how involved insurance brokers were in their communities, Scott said. Im very thankful for their support and I look forward to a terrific relationship.Scott is currently on the Hooters Tour. He will be joining the Canadian Tour next, before attending the PGA Tours qualifying school next year.
