Guelph, Ont.-based The Co-operators announced on Thursday that it has launched a new mobile app providing clients with a “quick, easy and secure way” to access and manage their insurance information.

With the free app, available through iTunes and Google Play, clients can use their smartphones or tablets to: access their policies with The Co-operators (via their online services account); view policy and billing documents; make a claim; get a quote; and find an advisor.

Additional features and functionality will be added regularly, The Co-operators said in a press release. The app can be used by home, auto, life, commercial, farm, life and wealth clients of Co-operators General Insurance Company and Co-operators Life Insurance Company.

“We’re always looking for ways to improve convenience and value for our clients,” said Paul Mlodzik, vice president of marketing and communications at The Co-operators, in the release. “The new app allows them to do business with us wherever and whenever they choose.”

The Co-operators launched the app on the same day that it released its financial results for the fourth quarter of 2016 and full-year 2016. The Canadian co-operative reported consolidated net income for Co-operators General Insurance Company of $128.8 million for the three months ending Dec. 31, 2016, just shy of a 25% hike over the $103.3 million in the fourth quarter of 2015. However, net income was down about 10.5% to $145.3 million in 2016 compared to $162.3 million in 2015.

The insurer also reported that the Fort McMurray wildfire cost $90.3 million in losses before tax, net of reinsurance and inclusive of reinsurance reinstatement premiums.

The Co-operators Group Limited is a Canadian co-operative with more than $44 billion in assets under administration. Through its group of companies it offers home, auto, life, group, travel, commercial and farm insurance, as well as investment products.
